“AT4D and the Judith Neilson Foundation Unveil Africa’s First Assistive Technology Investment Pilot.”
Momentous Fund-Establishing the Investment Catalyst for Assistive Technology in Africa.
Africa’s assistive technology market is one of the most urgent and underfinanced innovation frontiers in the world.
Nearly 200 million people across the continent require at least one assistive product, according to the World Health Organization. Yet access remains critically low, and early-stage innovators building life-changing solutions struggle to access patient, flexible capital.
The Momentous Fund Pilot, launched by Assistive Technologies for Disability Trust (AT4D) in partnership with the Judith Neilson Foundation, is Africa’s first early-stage investment pilot dedicated to assistive technology (AT).
We are building more than a fund.
We are building the foundation for an Africa-led AT investment ecosystem.
What Momentous Does
Momentous is designed to back high-potential early-stage African assistive technology ventures through:
Catalytic, patient capital 80-100k USD
Tailored venture-building support
Strategic partnerships & ecosystem access
Technical assistance and expert mentorship
Our focus areas include:
Phase One: Pilot Cohort
Phase One of the Momentous Fund is a closed, curated pilot supporting up to five ventures. This phase allows us to rigorously test our investment approach, refine support structures, and generate the evidence needed to scale.
