Assistive Technologies for Disability Trust (AT4D) is the next chapter in Africa's journey towards inclusive innovation.

Building on the success of Innovate Now—Africa’s first assistive technology accelerator—AT4D continues to drive forward disability innovation across the continent.

Launched in 2019 with support from global partners, Innovate Now impacted over 100 entrepreneurs and accelerated 45 startups in 11 countries within just four years.

Why we Exist

With over 200 million people in Africa needing assistive technology (AT) and a global unmet need projected to reach 3.5 billion by 2050, AT4D addresses the fragmented AT market dominated by expensive medical products. The organization helps startups develop and market affordable, high-quality AT products, enhancing access for persons with disabilities.

Assistive Technologies for Disability Trust (AT4D) supports innovators and governments to accelerate access to life-changing, affordable, and high-quality assistive technology that persons with disabilities need to participate fully and equally in society.

We do this through our disability innovation ecosystem, where we support innovators to develop, launch, test, and scale their innovations by providing them with coaching, curriculum, and funding. We also partner strategically with governments to strengthen policy.
